Armand Marseille was born in St Petersburg in 1856 but emigrated later with his family to Thuringia in Germany
In 1885, Armand Marseille bought the porcelain factory of Liebermann & Wegescher in Koppelsdorf. It was here where he began manufacturing bisque doll heads.
The factory became one of the largest German manufacturers of bisque doll heads. The most popular heads were those made from the mould number 390.

With weighted brown glass eyes, single stroke eyebrows, closed mouth and short brown wig, on a fully jointed wood and composition body with fixed wrists, wearing her original brown gingham dress with white shirt, straw bonnet, socks and shoes, incised Germany, 550, A 3/0 M, DRGM, 25cm, (9¾in) tall.
