A Gaultier swivel-headed Fashionable doll and trunk
with pale blue/grey eyes outlined in dark blue, pierced ears and kid body dressed in brown velvet frock, underwear and boots –15½in. (39.5cm.) high, impressed 2 (replaced blonde wig) with an American trunk containing a blue enamel watch on chatelaine, a painted bone brisée fan, blue kid gloves for a larger doll, four assorted hats, a red wool frock, a lilac and purple silk petticoat, black wool cape, hand mirror and other items trunk –12in. A fine example of a fashion doll, circa 1880-1890’s, manufactured by Francois Gaultier firm. Marked on rear of the bisque head “5” as well as on her bisque shoulder plate “5” & FG in scroll. Finely painted facial features, pale bisque (tiny white spot on right cheek), blue threaded paperweight eyes and her original blonde mohair wig with vintage straw hat. This doll is a fixed to her original gusseted kid body which has normal soiling with some patching. Attired in an antique white cotton outfit with embroidery, layered undergarments and blue boots(newer vintage). Overall bisque condition is excellent, not fully undressed for inspection of kid body but does show slightly heavier soiling to the kid leather arms. 21″ T. Sold For: $850 at Dan Morphy Auctions
