Barbie dolls are fashion dolls manufactured by the American toy company Mattel, Inc. and launched on March 9, 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration. Reference: Wikipedia.

Barbies have always been popular with children and have recently seen an interest from adult collectors, especially unusual Barbies or those from the sixties.

Price guide to Jumeau fashion dolls. Jumeau’s French Fashion dolls were the most popular type of doll manufactured from the late 1850s through the 1870s. These dolls, also known as poupees, were lady dolls with womanly bodies and realistic clothing, shoes, hats, and accessories that reflected the fashion of their time.
